Bucharest and Sofia have the lowest quality of living from all the cities in the EU, according to a survey recently published by Mercer, a global provider of consulting, outsourcing and investment services.
The 2008 quality of living ranking included 215 cities worldwide, though Western European cities dominated the high positions on the list. Bulgaria’s capital, however, was ranked lowest compared with other EU cities, as was Bucharest, which was 108th on the list.
No Eastern or Central European cities were included in the top 50 section of the ranking, though Prague, Budapest and Ljubljana did comparatively well – at 71st, 74th and 82nd place respectively.
