Benchmarks for sustainable outsourcing will be key subjects on the agenda of the next UNI Europa ICT Forum in September 2008. The ICT preparatory group at its recent meeting in Belfast, Northern Ireland, decided that sustainable outsourcing standards should become subject for information, consultation and participation procedures in multinational companies, including those operating the new EU Member States and candidate countries.
More and more work transfers from old to new Member States, where wages are lower and working conditions often inferior. In order to avoid social dumping benchmarks for sustainable outsourcing are necessary. The results of UNI Europa’s MOOS project (making offshore outsourcing sustainable) and the UNI Offshore Outsourcing Charter will serve as guidelines for the development of outsourcing standards to be applied in outsourcing destinations.
